In 1942 Portland, the African-American baseball team the Bombers plays the white Colts. In the brawl following the game, a Colt is injured. The Bombers' shortstop Joe Dobbs steps up to take responsibility, although he isn't sure he threw the punch. The young lawyer Lynn Eberly must find out what actually happened.
